12:15 pm - JUANES
|
so last night was the juanes concert, which kiki got me tickets for and informed me about in the first place. i looooooove kiki so much right now!
it was at mohegan sun but we couldn't go in the casino area but still. seriously that place is gorgeous! anyways, so it only really took a little more than an hour and a half to get down there which was pretty sick. we saw like only 4 other gringos but whatever it was great. pictures of it are up on facebook!!!!!!!!!!!!
so for those familiar with his songs, he talks a lot about humanitarian things and after he sang some of those songs, he thanked the audience (in spanish of course) for letting him say what he felt. it was cute! he only said one thing in english which he first said in spanish which was "its free". it was funny! during one of his songs he had the audience sing parts, and then he paused the music to tell us that we needed to get huevos (balls) in spanish. it was wicked funny!
special shout out to nicaragua for agreeing to let kiki and i stay in her room for the night, though we didn't end up needing to. the show started right at 7 and he came right out cuz its not like he needs an opening act or anything. the concert ended at 9:20 ish and there wasn't any breaks so it was soooooooooo good and it felt so intimate and it was such a good time. at the last song, which neither kiki, i or another gringa we saw there recognized, most of the people in the audience went down to the floor area and started salsa dancing. it was great! out seats were so good, because they were the first of the rising seats, right on the edge of the floor so we had no one in front of us and we were really really close. like we could see facial features and everything!
Love you Tamara! if you hadn't agreed to let us sleep over, coach kelley wouldn't have let kiki take the car down so we wouldn't have been able to go so i now owe my happiness to you. when you get your wisdom teeth out, i am your bitch =)

11:07 pm - montreal update!!!
|
Okay, so Montreal was amazing. The bus ride was 7 hours and cost a lot of money but it was really worth it. Jill was up with us in Montreal on Friday and Saturday and left Sunday morning for Vermont.
Friday: We went shopping in the underground mall which was wicked cool, and then we went to a restaurant where I ordered a watermelon margarita. It was so weird to actually be able to order an alcoholic drink at a restaurant. Later that night we went to a club, orchid, that was serving free alcohol to girls before midnight. The club was cool and Jenny and I now have stories about being stalked by guys. Who looked like they were 40. With full mustaches and turbans. It was hilarious.
Saturday: We walked around and did Hannah's errands. More shopping of course. Its so cool that everything is basically connected underground. We hung out in Hannah's room for a while, with Jenny reading Lance Bass's autobiography "Out of Sync" and Hannah and I watching Stargate Atlantis in her bed while Jill was taking a nap clutching to my waist. It was nice and relaxing. That night was wicked crazy though. So there was a house party at Jenny's place, which we of course went to. I had bought a four pack of Wild Vodka Smirnoff (blue!) at SAQ under Hannah's dorm. And I decided to drink 3 of them within 15 minutes, which was one of my best ideas ever. Really. I also had some wine. One of Jenny's housemates had too much to drink, apparently started seizing, and the EMTs came to the house twice. I didn't see that, because I was with a certain someone while she was booting all over Jenny's bed. And in the shower. Drunk people are very honest, and we had a strange heart to heart. Even weirder, Molly Herman and Andy were at the party. I have never been so tipsy in my life, and really should not have mixed so much vodka and then the wine. That was dumb. I felt fine in the morning though, and I didn't throw up or fall over or anything. I just personally do not enjoy the feeling of being dizzy.
Sunday: Jill went to Vermont early in the morning and Jenny, Hannah and I walked around and went to Old Montreal after buying groceries to cook dinner. There was a street performer there that stuck a 4 foot long balloon down his throat. No joke. I have pictures to prove this. It was nice to just walk around with Jenny and Hannah, and it really felt like no time has passed at all, and that we were just hanging out as usual. It was a really nostalgic moment for me. We ran into Benji and Sam Lebert at Hannah's dorm, who of course had gone to Super Sex the night before. Nice. Then we headed back to Jenny's and cooked Indian food, which was sooooooo spicy!!! At about 12 at night we went to a little diner and ate again.
Monday: Jenny's alarm didn't go off, so we overslept and had to run to get ready before walking with all of my stuff to the bus station with Hannah. It was weird to see them walk away after saying goodbye. I don't know how to describe the feeling other than that. I don't think I realized how much I missed those two until I had to leave again. Hannah has been my best friend for going on 6 years, Jenny almost 5, and its weird to be so far away. Though they do keep trying to recruit me to go to McGill. Which I doubt will happen, sorry Hannahlee.
So, the bottom line is: GO TO MONTREAL!!!!!!!!! It's kind of expensive, but completely worth it and I will totally do it again. Just not when there is snow.

2:12 pm - update on college
|
Sorry I haven't written about college or talked to people a lot. I've been so busy! But college is a blast. Last night we all decided to have a mini water fight by poking holes in the top of water bottles. Afterwards, we took manilla folders and cut them into circles and color them in so we could play twister. we duct taped them to the floor (which we technically are not allowed to use but our RA was there and didn't care). then we had a dance party in the lobby.
Highlights of the water fight: -getting patrick really well in the back while he wasn't looking. he didn't like that so he opened his bottle and dumped it on my head. in the middle of the lobby. Check out the facebook pictures of that. -running around squirting people while our RA mike was laughing at us
Highlights of twister: -patrick flicked me while we were playing to try to make me fall, so i pinched the back of his knee and then mike (our RA) decided it would be funny to push joey (an adorable and flambouyant gay kid) over, so we all fell down. on top of each other. -getting reeeeeally close to patrick and joey. like woah -having people come off the elevator, like the RA's walking around on duty, and laughing at us
Highlights of the dank dance party (dank=a martha's vineyard word for cool, amazing etc.): -sugar packets. 3 of them within 1 minute. then 2 brownies with chocolate frosting. i was kinda hyper -britney and alyse doing the soulja boy dance, which i refrained from doing (sorry kacey) -having la tortura by shakira and alejandro sanz come on and dancing with joey while singing all the words (he's a spanish major too) -dancing REALLY close to joey. Like if he wasn't gay, that would have been weird. -getting a noise complaint at like 12:30 because apparently they could hear us on the 10th floor (we are the 11th) -6th grade slow dancing with emily -watching danielle and emily's special dance to kryptonite -having dan (the one that live on our floor) and patrick watching us all and making comments while we danced really sketchily. and joey repeatedly asking patrick if he was jealous that i was grinding with him (its a floor joke that patrick and i are having sex. everyone knows its a joke, except 2 people one of which might have a crush on me and the other seems to like patrick. its for our own safety that we continue the joke)
So yeah, thats life here at Framingham. it was a freaking blast, and continued with the theme of weird activites in the lobby (2 thursdays ago we played handball and soccer in the lobby while mike our RA was downstairs)
Thats the thing about Framingham. You never know when something interesting is going to happen. Like having joey come into the girl's bathroom to talk to me while i was in the shower. We don't plan these things to happen, they just do and they are funny. Sgro was right; college is great.
On a sad note, my fish pixie died. tap water here is deadly. so emily and patrick and i went to the fish store on rt. 9 and bought a new fish. we named her Chelsea Montenegro. Chelsea because her coloring looks like the uniform for the Manchester England soccer team, and Monetenegro because that is the last name of a character on Bones and julie my roommate loved it. I think Chelsea Montenegro goes well with the name of Julie's fish: John Leguizamo (an actor).
Canada in a week exactly!

9:54 am - UPDATE FOR HANNAHLEE
|
Okay Hannhah, here is an update dedicated to you.
-So Supernatural was good last night. It wasn't amazing but it was really nice to have a normal Thursday night watching Supernatural with Mikey and Tamara and seeing Milo and Mama Glass.
-Framingham is going great! My classes are not that bad at all, and I'm getting pretty good grades. Last English class though was amazingly awkward because we had to read this article by Susan Brodo about advertisements and how they are all about men being the dominant ones in bed while women are supposed to be "passive" and the only ones that are supposed to enjoy it (I was like what the hell!)The girl sitting next to me was IMing me the entire time with commentary, which was hilarious, especially when this kid who clearly never got laid started to talk about sex like he was wicked smart. Oh yeah, and my teacher is a guy who is in his late 20s or early 30s and he was talking about men giving pleasure and women recieving it and it was soooooooo weird!
-I'm still working out how I can fufill my major though. I'm doing World Languages, which means I have a primary language (Spanish) and a secondary language (Arabic). My school doesn't offer Arabic though, so I would have to take it through another school (which I would pay for) or a study abroad (which they would pay for under the full scholarship I got to come here). So of course my parents are not so cool with that but whatever. I wanna go to Egypt and walk like an egyptian. And ride a camel.
Hmmmmmmm....Oh yeah, I'm going to visit my dearest Hannahlee and Jenny Li in November over the long weekend, which I am so happy about! I miss my Canadians!!!!
So there's your update Hannahlee!
UPDATE ON NEMO: Nemo has had surgery. All those "tumors" caused his tail to fall partially off, which I tried to fix with Elmers glue and a safety pin through his butt. Patrick's fault.
current music: Tubthumping (I get knocked down song)--Chumbawamba

8:53 pm - this one goes out to the one i love
|
hey y'all. sry, won't do that ever again. just felt like it.
i was just thinking about how weird summer can be. one minute is so busy, the next so boring that i kinda want school to start.
its weird how some ppl i didn't see a lot in school and then they are my life over the summer and vice versa.
dunno, i was just pondering. i just realized that the only time people are truly free, are in college and kinda high school. you can be crazy and don't have that many responsibilities and we are expected to be confused and unsure about the future. by the end of college, we have to get responsible and have a set path for the future and become adults. no pressure at all right.
I miss hannah and bridget!

11:36 am - ...
|
well, i need to get out of here! im feeling a little down for a couple of reasons:
1. nana dying and all. this week is dealing with the personal effects and the will and i am not excited at all. how can we just take her stuff and act like they were never hers? and now i get all of her art supplies and i can't deal with it.
2. if i know something that could possibly help save a friend pain in the end, should i tell her if it will hurt her now?
3. i never really got to say goodbye to all my friends that are moving or leaving to go back home in other countries. its really unsatisfying.
4. i don't know if im jealous or lonely. i don't know what im feeling. maybe im just nostalgic. i miss how things were.
5. i miss my family in costa rica! a lot.
things to make me feel better:
1. tamara. always there. i don't know what else to say. tamara, hannah, jenny and sarah. all three are there unconditionally and i always know what is going on in their lives. they tell me and i don't have to hear second-hand accounts from other people.
2. i get some of nana's paintings which have always made me feel better in the past. i hope they still will
3. red. hot. chili. peppers. enough said
4. cousin jen's graduation party sunday (where she vowed to slip me drinks. thank god for red colored non-see-through cups), cousin brenden's wedding in like 2 or 3 weeks (the one who got drunk at the last weddings and told me he remembers when i was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big and now im thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big and that means he's old). and then the day after the wedding is a family cookout. 'tis an irish month indeed
5. teaching myself italian. its fun!
6. writing a letter to oren and mailing pics to mama tica and the family!
7. starring in luke and max's movie in the future! yay!
i think i got it all.

5:32 pm - i want a life that is mine!
|
so i went to stefany from costa rica's house yesterday with laurie (mi amor)and slept over there with giorgia from italy. we watched memoirs of a geisha (good movie, took us a while to figure out it did not take place in china)and had a lot of fun with cameras. then today we went to boston (ya, now i can count on 3 hands the number of times i have been there) and looked at all the art cows around the town for the jimmy fund. we found 26 i think. i tallied it up somewhere and took pics of all but 3.
we went to: gvmt center to fanueil hall/quincy market to the northend to quincy market to the boston common to the boston garden to newbury st then back to brighton and i just got home. i had a ton of fun but i had to say goodbye to giorgia because this is the last time i saw her. she leaves for italy on monday, as does 5 other of my close international friends and mary leaves that day 2. this is so depressing....and mina is in montreal for good...
fun couple of days tho.
let me know if u r interested in possibly coming to chinatown with me and jenny li!
